The Chess series

Can a working threesome find a fourth to help them balance their lives? Rook, Knight and Bishop believe so.

The happy threesome know there's something missing and when they find Jason, they're pretty sure he's just what they need.

Join these four sexy men as they explore the dynamics between them and work toward finding a happy ending of their very own.

About Sean Michael

Often referred to as "Space Cowboy" and "Gangsta of Love" while still striving for the moniker of "Maurice," Sean Michael spends his days surfing, smutting, organising his immense gourd collection and fantasizing about one day retiring on a small secluded island peopled entirely by horseshoe crabs. While collecting vast amounts of vintage gay pulp novels and mood rings, Sean whiles away the hours between dropping the f-bomb and pursuing the kama sutra by channelling the long lost spirit of John Wayne and singing along with the soundtrack to "Chicago".

A long-time writer of complicated haiku, currently Sean is attempting to learn the advanced arts of plate spinning and soap carving sex toys.

Barring any of that? He'll stick with writing his stories, thanks, and rubbing pretty bodies together to see if they spark.

This was good. Loved that there was four of them. I could see how the relationship between the three connected well with each other. I also saw how having a fourth also made two couples. I also saw how the fourth had something in common with all of them to tie in the relationship. I wish it had been a longer story and I could see the relationships grown.

3.5 stars

Opening Moves is a good read if you can take it for what it is – straight erotica. There is very little plot here, and while that’s been an issue for me in the past, I’m getting over it. I’ve read so many books classified as erotica that had plots with so much potential and eventually fell flat that I’m OK with no plot anymore with this particular genre. I want to walk away from a read satisfied or thirsting for just a bit more, but I don’t want to be left wondering what the hell happened and why there are so many loose threads. Throw in a few bits of information about each character to make them distinguishable, and I’m good to go.

I think the idea behind the names – Rook, Bishop, and Knight – was inventive. Adorable even. The dynamics between each of the men, and eventually Jason, were very interesting. It’s clear that while they all love each other, this is Bishop’s show and they’ve all jumped on for the ride. I’m intrigued to find out what Jason’s part in all of this will be, and how hard it will be for him to accept it since he was so reluctant to embrace his attraction to men. While I do wish we’d learned more about how the men earned their money and just a bit more about what makes each of them tick, I was happy with what I got. This is the first in a series, so I’m hoping for more of that in future installments. Opening Moves was a hot read, and I’ll be going back for more!

3.5 Stars – 5 Flames

Non-stop bunny humping would be the best way to describe what I just read. Holy Mother of AHHHHHH!!!!

Since this story is short and sexy, I’ll keep my review to a minimum. I mean, what can I really write about other than the multiple sex scenes with multiple partners. Did you see my 5 flames???

DO NOT pick this up if reading non-stop sex scenes with very little storyline isn’t your thing. It’ll just piss you off. The only storyline you need to know about this is that an already put together threesome propositions another man who doesn’t believe he’s gay to become their forth lover for a year. Mouth full right? You have NO IDEA!!!!

Scenes were hot and heavy. The author definitely got across that the threesome love each other deeply in different ways. Adding the forth to the mix is proving to be a good decision, so far. There isn’t a cliffhanger, but I know that there are more installments to this series so I’m interested in seeing where this goes.

All I can say is HOTTTTTTTTT!!!
four? wow it works. I enjoyed the book but left it lacked a bit of backstory. Now I want to know if Jason lasted a year.
I love the premise of this book. The dynamics of the trio plus Jason leaves a lot open to happen and I am looking forward to the next installment. Okay, onto the story. This novella feels a little to me like taking all of Sean Michael's characters and boiling them down into Rook, Bishop, Knight and Jason. You'll see similarities of these characters in other stories by this author certainly, but they feel refined here; the bubbly bottom, serious top, troubled artist and new-to-it-all. I am a little disappointed in how fast things are evolving between Rook and Jason. Having just been bought to be a 'sex kitten'(according to Jason)for a year by strangers, I think two days is a little quick to start having feelings. I'd like to see more almost-stranger sex before slipping into love goo, but that is a minor side point in my personal preferences. It certainly won't stop me from reading the next one.
If your looking for a good m/m/m/m romance story this is the best possible one so far that I have found. The love between the character s is well written and the characters are very funny. A great read! Looking forward to the next part in the story.
2.5...maybe, I guess. I'm in the minority with this one because I just couldn't get over the creepy-predatory vibes I got from reading the first few chapters. Broody artist guy hangs out looking for a sex toy for his guys at home. Sure, let's get the guy that's desperately needing money, lonely, alone, and about to be evicted from his home. Creepy...predatory. Offer him 500k to be sex toy for a year for whatever they want to do. I really never read how old these guys were but again that vibe made me believe the threesome were older than Jason since they called him Pretty Boy and Kid. Who knows? Just seem Jason was taken advantage of when he was in a vulnerable position in his life. Jason wasn't even inside the house five minutes and all three guys had their hands and mouths on him. Just...ugh. After that it was just pure sex and broody art guy acting like an obnoxious ass.

I've read a lot of different authors in this genre and I've always steered clear of Sean Michael and probably will not try another at this point. Just way too much sex and not enough equality for my taste. To each his own.
This was good. Loved that there was four of them. I could see how the relationship between the three connected well with each other. I also saw how having a fourth also made two couples.
